FISHING TEAM
Captain Stu Scheer – Inducted into the Louisiana Outdoor Hall of Fame in March of 2003. Captain Stu started the first full time inland charter fishing operation in Louisiana in 1971. He has been featured in over 150 local, regional and national articles in various publications. He has been a featured speaker at hundreds of sportsman’s shows, seminars and clubs promoting Louisiana fishing. Appointed to former governer Dave Treen’s Saltwater Finfish Task Force. He was instrumental in writing some of the current saltwater fishing laws. As a charter boat captain for 31 years, he personally has run over 7500 charter trips, showing no signs of slowing down. He still averages 250 charters per year. Stu currently handles bay trips for reds and trout during Spring and Summer months. Fall and Winter finds him in the marshes and inland lakes, pursuing trout, reds and drum. He is available approximately 350 days per year. Captain Stu has successfully fished for just about everything that swims. His success and knowledge of the fishery is unmatched. In the past 38 years he unofficially responsible for approximately 40 parish, state and U.S. fish records. The latest being the second largest redfish caught on a rod & reel in the Gulf, 54 lbs. 4 oz., landed in September 2002.

Captain James Ray “Cuda” Scheer is fast building a reputation as possibly the finest, most successful captain on the Gulf Coast. Having lived in Cococdrie his entire life, he started fishing at 3 years of age. By the time he was 7 he was fishing on his own from daylight to dark. Cuda became the youngest full time captain on the Gulf Coast at 16, from then on the rest is history. Cuda does it all, bay trips, marsh trips, night trips, you name it. Cuda’s real love is offshore, whether its tuna or snapper, Cuda knows where and how. If there is a better or more successful offshore captain he is not on this planet. Cuda now 30 has 14 charter years under his belt.

Captain Mike Ledet At forty Mike is in his prime, with no signs of slowing down. A charter captain out of the Sportsman’s Paradise for over 20 years. Mike specializes in bay and marsh fishing. Mike’s real expertise is in night fishing. Mike is simply the best and most experienced night captain going. He has built artificial reefs for trout and he lights up is locations and the trout and reds come calling.
Mike is available 12 months a year. If night fishing in the warm months is your bag, captain Mike Ledet is your man. His catch records are all the proof you need for a successful trip. Pictures don’t lie. It is a rare occasion when Mike doesn’t limit out.

Captain Blaine Townsend Captain Blaine has ben a charter captain out of Cocodrie for over 20 years. Primarily an inland captain for most of those years, Captain Blaine has now focused his skills on strictly fly fishing. For the past four years he has totally devoted himself to fly fishing. He is the most successful and experienced fly fishing captain in this area. He has been featured on ESPN Outdoors, and has done many local and regional show on fly fishing. His knowledge of the shallow water areas in our zone is unmatched. He knows where and how to catch redfish. Fisherman come from all over the US to fish with Blaine.
Blaine keeps up on all the latest techniques in the fly fishing world. He ties his own flies and maintains the finest and most up to date equipment. If fly fishing for redfish is your bag, Blaine is your man. Thirty to forty hookups in a days fly fishing is not uncommon with Blaine.

Donald “Duck” Locasio “Duck” was a full time deckhand from the time he was 14 having worked on Capt. Stu’s personal boat. For almost 10 years he gained experience and knowledge in the process. He loves the outdoors and has fished since he was old enough to hold a rod. His technical knowledge of the fishey is unmatched. He is a wildlife graduate fro LSU. Duck became a full fledged captain 5 years ago and hasn’t looked back. His success rate ranks at the top. He is experienced and knowledgeable. There is not a fish related question he can’t answer. Whether it’s bay fishing for bull reds or rig fishing trout, Duck will show you a great time.

Harold “Field & Stream” Bagley One of the newest members of the Sportsman’s fishing team, there is no one with more enthusiasm than Harold. Having been a captain for about 7 years, Harold is fast building a good reputation for success. Trout and Reds are his bag with night fishing a real specialty. Harold is available all year for charter. Regardless of your choice of trip Harold will provide you with a great trip.

Robert “Mightyfine” Honeycutt Robert is the senior member of the Sportsman’s fishing team and also one of the newest members. Robert’s love for the water is hard to match. His personality and attitude is second to none. His specialty is redfish and trout in the bay and marshes. He is available 12 months a year. You will not find a more co-operative and attentive captain. Helpful and courteous, you cannot say enough good things about Robert.
